Nike Dunk SB Low Purple Pigeon

These were another great pair designed by James Arizumi. For those who weren’t able to get a hold of a pair of the legendary, commotion-causing NYC Pigeon Dunks, the Purple Pigeons were as close as you’re going to get.

The Nike Dunk Low Pro SB Purple Pigeon – light graphite / violet was dubbed Purple Pigeon after the original Pigeon Dunks were released.

The only problem was that these did not feature the pigeon logo on the heel of the shoe as the original ones did. A designer came up with the idea to make the Pigeon patches which you could put on these, to really help them earn their name. They feature a suede / leather upper with two tones of grey, and purple accents, including a purple Nike swoosh, outsole, and heel tab.

The most noticeable difference between the two sneakers are their tongues. On the Nike Dunk, you get a slim, mesh tongue. On the SB Dunk, the tongue has been beefed up to provide more cushion and protection. By being thicker, the tongue helps with the fit as well. It enables the sneaker to mold to your feet, preventing any slipping or wiggling. The tongue is held down with elastic straps which provide an added layer of lockdown. As a bonus, it allows you to slip the SB Dunk on and off without having to mess with finicky laces.
